The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) operates in partnership with the federal Express Entry system to select prospective candidates for permanent residency under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for the Alberta Express Entry Stream?
You must meet the eligibility criteria for both the AINP and the federal Express Entry system to qualify for this program. The AINP nominates candidates with a strong connection to the province. They must have the potential to significantly contribute to Alberta's economic development.
You must have a valid job offer from a designated employer based in the province of Alberta.
International graduates applying for the program must hold a diploma/degree/training certificate from an approved Alberta post-secondary institution.
To qualify for the Express Entry system, you must be eligible for 1 of the 3 economic immigration programs:
Federal Skilled Worker Program: To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, you must have a Canadian high school diploma or a foreign equivalent. Your work experience for National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, or B position will be considered valid. You must also demonstrate language proficiency in English or French with a level 7 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB).
National Occupation Classification (NOC):
- “Skill Type 0 (zero): management jobs, such as:
- restaurant managers
- mine managers
- shore captains (fishing)
- Skill Level A: professional jobs that usually call for a degree from a university, such as:
- Skill Level B: technical jobs and skilled trades that usually call for a college diploma or training as an apprentice, such as:
- Electricians” (from IRCC)
Federal Skilled Trades Program: To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program, you must have the appropriate certification or license required to practice your trade in the province. Or, you must have a valid job offer for a full-time position. You must also demonstrate language proficiency with a minimum of level 4 on the CLB.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC): To be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class, you must have at least 1 year of skilled work experience. Non-continuous and part-time work experience is valid as long as it adds up to 1,560 hours. You must demonstrate the required language proficiency in English or French.
