One appealing characteristic of Canada is that it is a truly multicultural country. This can make it easy for newcomers to settle here, which is why many people consider immigrating to Canada from all corners of the world. If you want to immigrate to Canada from Pakistan so that you can enjoy the opportunities here, here is some information you need.

Foreign Skilled Workers, Skilled Trades Program or the Experience Class Program? Which is the Right Route?

Most people who want to immigrate to Canada from Pakistan are able to work and make contributions to the Canadian economy. The federal Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) department has developed the Express Entry System.

This system acts as an umbrella for the Federal Skilled Workers Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class Program. These three programs are aimed at selecting possible immigrants who have the skills and experience necessary to meet available job requirements.

To start, you create an online profile in the Express Entry system. The information you provide will determine your eligibility to immigrate and your position in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

The CRS assigns points according to certain criteria such as: work experience, education, language ability (English and/or French), and valid job offers. Canada immigration for Pakistani requires specific CRS score minimums to qualify.

Some trades and professions have different requirements in Canada than in other countries. Because of this, you may be required to complete an Educational Credential Assessment to prove that your training and education meet the standards here. Try our our Express Entry CRS Calculator tool.

Express Entry Profile Set Up and Language Proficiency

Canada has two official languages - English and French - you will need to prove your proficiency in either one or both. That means, before you can complete your Express Entry profile, you need to take a language test. IRCC accepts only certain tests, so be sure you take the correct and accepted ones.

Many people believe that they must have a valid job offer before beginning an Express Entry profile. That is not correct.

While it’s true that IRCC expects immigrants to contribute to the economy, you can start creating a profile without a job offer. Applicants have access to the federal Job Bank service. This service has job postings and allows applicants to search for work that matches their skills and experience.

Once you have been admitted to the Express Entry pool, you could receive an invitation from IRCC to apply for permanent residency. These invitations are issued only to applicants who meet a certain standard in the CRS.

People can improve their CRS scores by getting a valid job offer or acquiring relevant work experience and/or education. Another way to increase your score is through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

With the PNP, the provinces and territories can target specific skills that match job needs in that region. If applicants in the Express Entry pool match, then the province or territory can nominate the applicants for permanent residency.

Canada immigration for Pakistani includes multiple streams. Selecting the right program is the first step in learning how to apply for Canada immigration from Pakistan successfully.

How Many Points Do I Need To Successfully Apply?

The number of points required for acceptance into express entry and federal skilled worker programs may vary according to the government’s wishes.

Typically, the express entry draw requires scores between 440 and 450. The exact number may vary depending on the volume of applicants accepted and the overall points level of everyone applying for express entry.

For example, the cut-off was 456 in March 2018, while the minimum required score dropped to 441 one month later.

Tiebreakers for multiple applicants with the same score may involve a “first-come, first-serve” approach, rewarding timely applications.

The federal skilled worker program features a different requirement, with a cut-off of 67 points to pass the first hurdle. Neither of these point scores guarantee a successful immigration process.

Instead, meeting points requirements allows you to continue the process of immigrating to Canada from Pakistan. See our Express Entry Draw Updates.

Immigrate from Pakistan Through Canadian Family Sponsorship?

Another possible way to immigrate to Canada from Pakistan could be through the Canadian Family Sponsorship Program. To qualify, you must already have family - an adult child or grandchild - who are either citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

The first step is for your relative to express an interest in becoming a sponsor, which occurs at certain times each year. Once that deadline has passed, the intended sponsor must wait until the following year. IRCC will contact people who are invited to apply to be sponsors.

If your relative is approved and applies, your eligibility for permanent residency will be assessed. Remember your sponsor is financially responsible for you while you get settled once you are approved to immigrate.

What Can Delay an Application?

There are several reasons IRCC will reject an application for Canada immigration from Pakistan. Not having the necessary work experience or education and training, especially if unsupported by an Educational Credential Assessment, can result in too low a CRS ranking to qualify.

If there is evidence an applicant has serious financial troubles in Pakistan, the IRCC might refuse the applicant. The same thing can happen if someone has a criminal record - including some traffic infractions.

This is true even for charges that might have occurred years ago. Be sure any offenses have been discharged before you apply to immigrate to Canada.

Incomplete applications and improper documentation can also delay an application or cause one to be rejected for Canadian immigration from Pakistan.

Canada Immigration Biometric Requirements

Canadian border officials utilize basic biometric information to ensure a smooth application process. New standards for biometric identification started on July 31st, 2018 for applicants from the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

As of December 31st, 2018, people applying from Asia, the Americas and the Asia Pacific will require biometrics.

The biometric process involves a photo and a fingerprint, which will be reviewed when you arrive at one of eight major Canadian airports.

Arrivals in smaller airports may need secondary confirmation of biometrics. Canada requires updated biometric information once every decade.
