The above tool asks a series of questions and then calculates your score within the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) for the Express Entry pool.

How Does the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Work?

The CRS ranks eligible candidates for immigration to Canada through Express Entry under the following factors:

  • Core human capital
  • Accompanying spouse or common-law
  • Skill transferability

Provincial Nomination Factors:

  • Having a job offer from an employer in a province or territory
  • Your Canadian education experience
  • Having a sibling in Canada
  • Your English or French language proficiency

1,200 points are available to you. If you don’t have an accompanying spouse or common-law partner then there are these points for these factors: 

  • Core human capital, a maximum of 500 points
  • Skill transferability, a maximum of 100 points
  • Provincial Nomination, 600 points 
  • Having a job offer, up to 200 points
  • Canadian education experience, up to 30 points
  • English combined with French, however, the French language proficiency up to 50 additional points
  • Having a sibling in Canada, a maximum of 15 points

If you are with an accompanying spouse or common-law partner, then there are these points for these factors:

  • Core human capital factors of your spouse or common-law partner, a maximum of 460 points
  • Core human capital (Your spouse or common-law partner), a maximum of 40 points
  • Skill transferability, a maximum of 100 points
  • Provincial Nomination, 600 points 
  • Having a job offer, up to 200 points
  • Canadian education experience, up to 30 points
  • English combined with French, however, French language proficiency will allow up to 50 additional points
  • Having a sibling in Canada, a maximum of 15 points (only one sibling is considered between the principal applicant and the accompanying spouse/common-law partner)
