The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will be conducting the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Lottery 2021 between September 23 and October 7.

What Is the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Lottery 2021?

The Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Lottery 2021 will invite around 30,000 applicants over 2 weeks. The invitation will be sent to applicants who submitted their applications for the lottery between October 13, 2020, and November 3, 2020.

Applicants who receive an invitation will become Canadian permanent residents and obtain all benefits that come with it. While it is not impossible to receive an invitation, certain requirements must be met for the application to be eligible.

What Are the Eligibility Requirements for the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Lottery 2021?

The sponsor, that is, the Canadian citizen or permanent resident must be at least 18 years of age to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residence in Canada. In addition to that, they must meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirement. To meet this requirement, they will be required to submit the Notice of Assessment issued by the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) for the 2018, 2019, and 2020 tax years.

Once this requirement is met, the completed sponsorship application can be submitted within 60 days along with the appropriate fee to the IRCC. If the sponsor is residing in Quebec, then they will be required to meet the MNI requirement for the last 12 months. In either case, the sponsor must sign a financial undertaking agreement. This agreement will make them legally liable to repay any social assistance claimed by their parents or grandparents during the undertaking period.

How Will You Know that You Have Received an Invitation for the Parents and Grandparents Lottery 2021?

Check the email account you used to apply for the lottery regularly over the next 2 weeks. You may also check the spam or junk folders to ensure that you don’t miss any message from the IRCC. You will receive the invitation for the lottery from the following address:

CIC.CPCMississaugaDoNotReply-CTDMississaugaNePasRepondre.CIC@cic.gc.ca

The subject line of the email will say, “Parents and Grandparents Program Invitation/ L’invitation à présenter une demande dans le cadre du Programme des parents et des grands-parents – CPCM / CTDM.”

Once you have received the invitation, you will have 60 days to submit a completed application for the program.

What to Do If You Do Not Receive an Invitation for the Parents and Grandparents Lottery 2021?

If you do not receive an invitation for this lottery, you can always consider applying for a Super Visa. The Super Visa is a multiple-entry visa for parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. This visa allows them an extended stay in Canada for up to 2 years at a time without requiring any visa extensions
