What Is the Purpose of the New Brunswick International Graduate Stream?

The pilot program is set to invite international graduates from certain areas of study relevant to the priorities set by business organizations in the province. These organizations include the following:

  • New Brunswick Business Council
  • Boards of Trade
  • Saint John Regional Chamber of Commerce

The priorities set by the group include the following:

  • Inviting 10,000 new immigrants by 2024, 30% being fluent in speaking French
  • Simplifying and expediting the immigration process
  • Increased investment in improving settlement services for newcomers

New Brunswick requires immigrants to replace approximately 120,000 local workers who will be retiring during the next decade. Immigration is the sole way for the province to increase population and maintain the stability of the local economy.

In 2019, the province welcomed approximately 6,000 new immigrants. Due to the pandemic, that figure decreased drastically to 2,740. Between January to July 2021, New Brunswick managed to welcome 1,470 new immigrants despite the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and delays.

How Can You Immigrate to New Brunswick?

Currently, the NBPNP offers the following immigration streams for foreign workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs:

In addition to this, you can also apply for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) designed to encourage economic immigration to the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. You will require a valid job offer from an employer in the province and meet other eligibility requirements.
