It would be nice to not have to apply for a visa every time for your visit to Canada. Fortunately, there is a way for you to gain access to Canada that will allow you to come here anytime for travel, study, or work.

The Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) will allow you to do all of that. All applications for the TRV are now being considered for multiple entries.

What Is a Multiple Entry Temporary Resident Visa?

The TRV is for foreign nationals who want to visit Canada for a limited period and leave at the end of their stay. The TRV is also referred to as a Visitor Visa. Multiple entry TRVs are for the foreign nationals who need to visit Canada multiple times within a period of 10 years for limited stays of up to 6 months.

What Are the Benefits of a Multiple Entry Temporary Resident Visa?

A multiple entry TRV will allow you to visit Canada anytime within the period of 10 years for a visit or a vacation. You may also conduct business or enroll in a study program that lasts less than 6 months if you are authorized to do so under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). That way, you won’t have to reapply for a Canadian Visa for every visit.

Who Is Eligible to Apply for a Multiple Entry Temporary Resident Visa?

To be eligible for a multiple entry TRV, you will be required to demonstrate that you meet the requirements of the IRPA and you will be in Canada only for a temporary period (temporary residence). You will be required to demonstrate your intention to return to your home country at the end of your visit to the visa officer.

You will also be required to demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support your stay in Canada. You must not intend to work or study unless authorized to do so. You must not have any past criminal record or be a security risk to Canada. You must be medically and criminally admissible to Canada.

Currently, all applications for a TRV will be considered for multiple entry visas. Applicants applying for single entry TRVs may also be granted multiple entry TRVs.

What Is the Process to Apply for a Multiple Entry Temporary Resident Visa?

To apply for a multiple entry TRV you will be required to fill out the necessary application and submit all supporting documents. You may be required to undergo a medical examination and submit your biometric information. If you have family members living in Canada, then they will be required to submit separate applications. According to the Canadian government, there are currently 189 countries whose citizens require a Canadian Visitor Visa or Temporary Resident Visa before coming to Canada.
