Do you want to immigrate to Alberta without a pre-arranged offer of employment? The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) offers the Alberta Express Entry Stream for candidates like you.

The Express Entry system is the most popular and common way for skilled immigrants to immigrate to Canada. A majority of Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) offer at least 1 stream that is aligned with the Express Entry system. These are known as Enhanced PNP streams. Enhanced PNP streams allow provinces to nominate candidates with relevant skills and experience in the Express Entry pool for provincial nomination.

The Alberta Express Entry stream (AINP) is one such stream.

How Does It Benefit You to Immigrate to Alberta?

Being the 4th largest province in Canada, Alberta is the top choice for thousands of immigrants arriving in Canada every year. Alberta has 2 major cities- Edmonton and Calgary. Every year, Alberta welcomes around 40,000 new immigrants, almost 13% of all the immigrants in Canada. Alberta ranks 3rd highest in its immigration levels, just behind Ontario with 44.7% and British Columbia with 15.8%. Currently, around 4.5 million people reside in Alberta. Alberta’s economy is majorly dependent on its oil and natural gas, and mining industries.

How Can You Immigrate to Alberta Without a Job Offer?

As mentioned above, the Alberta Express Entry is an Enhanced PNP stream that will allow you to immigrate to Alberta without a job offer. Receiving provincial nomination in the Express Entry system will get you 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. This virtually guarantees that you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence

To apply for this stream, you must have a valid profile in the Express Entry system and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to indicate your interest in the stream.

Alberta has invited around 5,910 candidates through the Alberta Express Entry stream. You will be required to meet the following criteria to qualify for this stream:

  • Have a valid profile in the Express Entry system
  • Submit an EOI for the AINP
  • Work in an eligible occupation that supports the economic development and diversification in Alberta
  • Have a minimum CRS score of at least 300

While you do not necessarily need a job offer, having one greatly increases your chances of receiving an ITA. Your chances to be invited also increase if:

  • You graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution
  • You have a parent, brother, sister, or child living in Alberta as a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • You are fluent in the French language

Having an Express Entry profile that expires in 5 months or less or working in an ineligible occupation will reduce your chances of receiving an ITA.
