On March 2, 2021, Ontario held a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw to invite 754 applicants from the Express Entry pool. Applicants with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 463 and 467 qualified to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Applicants to the Human Capital Priorities Stream from 10 targeted occupations were selected to receive a provincial nomination. The following occupations were targeted for this draw:

Occupation Title

National Occupational Classification (NOC) Code

Banking, credit and other investment managers

NOC 0122

Advertising, marketing and public relations managers

NOC 0124

Other business services managers

NOC 0125

Corporate sales managers

NOC 0601

Financial auditors and accountants

NOC 1111

Financial and investment analysts

NOC 1112

Human resources professionals

NOC 1121

Professional occupations in business management consulting

NOC 1122

Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses

NOC 3012

Business development officers and marketing researchers and consultants

NOC 4163

These occupations were targeted in the PNP draw update held on February 2, 2021. Applicants required at least 1 year of work experience in 1 of the targeted occupations to be eligible for provincial nomination. Once applicants receive a provincial nomination, an additional 600 CRS scores are added onto their Express Entry profile, virtually guaranteeing an ITA for permanent residency.

Last year, Ontario invited 6,716 applicants to the Human Capital Priorities Stream to apply for provincial nomination. This stream took the majority of all applicants invited through Express Entry aligned with PNP streams

How Does Provincial Nomination Guarantee an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?

Express Entry system manages applications of 3 federal economic immigration programs:

Applicants who apply through the Express Entry aligned PNP streams must meet the eligibility requirements for 1 of the above-mentioned programs and also the PNP requirements. They must also create an active Express Entry profile.

The profile is assessed based on factors such as age, education level, work experience, language proficiency, etc. Based on these factors, your profile is awarded a Comprehensive System Ranking (CRS) score. The highest scoring applicants receive an ITA for permanent residency. Gaining provincial nomination through an Express Entry aligned PNP stream grants you an additional 600 CRS points on your profile. This effectively guarantees a high score and a subsequent invitation in a future Express Entry Draw Update.
