Charged but Not Guilty. Will this Hurt My PR Status?

I am a Jamaican citizen and have been living and working in Toronto for almost one year. I am in the Country on a Work Permit and have also applied for PR status. When I moved here I came with my girlfriend of 6 years. She cheated on me and we got into a fight in a public place and someone called the police. I have been charged with domestic assault. I did NOT assault her and I have a very good lawyer who is helping me fight this issue. My case is still in the court system and will not be over until October of this year. My question is, am I innocent until proven guilty according to CIC? Will this make me loose out on my PR application? Is the CIC going to be notified of this charge by the police?

I am very worried and unsure of what I should do.

I have no criminal record in my country.
