Can denied entry be contested if the charges have been dropped?

I was recently denied entry into Canada over a charge that I was never convicted of. I was charged for breaking and entry to my parent's home a few years back. This was a misunderstanding as my parents had gone on vacation and asked me to house sit for them, but hadn't left me the code to disarm the house. Long story short the charges were dismissed, but it still appears on my record and is causing me difficulties coming into Canada. Can denied entry be contested if the charges have been dropped?
