The Canadian high commission has announced that they will open a dedicated biometric appointment system to clear the mounting backlog of Study Permit applications. The Visa Application Centers (VACs) across India have begun scheduling biometric appointments for Study Permit applications beginning July 30, 2021.

What About Applicants Who Have Already Scheduled Appointments?

Applicants who have already scheduled a biometric appointment will have to cancel their existing appointment to book one at an earlier date by using the dedicated queue on the Appointment Management System (AMS).

This service will only be available to applicants who have applied for short-term study, Study Permits, and returning students. Any other appointments booked under the student-dedicated queue will be canceled.

Why Was This Earlier Biometric Change Done?

Providing accelerated processing was important to clear the mounting demand for Study Permits in Canada. Therefore, earlier biometric appointments will help these VACs process applications at an increased capacity.

However, Study Permit applicants must also beware of fraudulent entities. These entities may try to charge unnecessary fees for scheduling these appointments in the name of VACs.

Applicants are informed to not share any personal information through social media as that can be used to trick you. VACs will never ask for a visa application fee via email or phone. The visa application fee must be paid online to avoid any suspicions or incidents.
